Techniques
At Elevate Chiropractic, your care is tailored to your needs, goals, and comfort level. Dr. Quintin uses several adjusting approaches and explains his recommendations so you know what to expect at each visit.
Diversified Technique
Diversified is a hands-on technique that uses a quick, controlled movement to adjust a specific joint. The goal is to improve joint mobility, ease stiffness, and help reduce discomfort. Dr. Quintin adjusts your positioning and the amount of force based on your examination and comfort. You may hear a popping sound during an adjustment, which is associated with pressure changes within the joint.
Thompson Drop Technique
The Thompson Drop technique uses a specialized adjusting table with sections that gently lift and drop a short distance as an adjustment is delivered. This movement allows the table to assist with the adjustment. You’ll feel a brief movement beneath you and may hear the table release. Dr. Quintin uses this approach to address restricted movement in the spine and pelvis, with positioning tailored to the area being treated.
Activator Technique
Activator adjusting uses a small handheld instrument to deliver a quick, controlled impulse to a specific joint. The instrument applies a focused amount of force, typically felt as a brief tap. This approach involves little movement of your body and may suit patients who prefer an instrument adjustment. Dr. Quintin determines whether it is appropriate based on your examination and preferences.
Upper Cervical Adjusting
Upper cervical adjusting focuses on the top of the neck, particularly the first two vertebrae—the atlas and axis—and their relationship with the base of the skull. These joints help support your head and allow it to move and turn. Dr. Quintin evaluates movement in this area and uses targeted adjustments when appropriate, with the goal of improving neck mobility and easing joint-related discomfort.
Extremity Adjusting
Extremity adjusting focuses on joints outside the spine, including the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. When an examination identifies restricted joint movement, a targeted adjustment may help improve mobility and reduce discomfort. Dr. Quintin considers how these joints function during your daily activities, work, and exercise when deciding whether extremity care belongs in your treatment plan.
